Pennsylvania: March for Marriage Equality on March 14th!

The time for Pennsylvania to stand up for her rights and the equal rights of her citizens is at hand! Thankfully, The Center for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights is taking the lead!

Very recently, a small, yet well organized and hideously intolerant group pushed the so-called state level "Marriage Protection Amendment" on the fair minded citizens of Pennsylvania.

The Center for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights is coordinating the Value All Families Coalition rally opposing the anti-family state constitutional amendments in Harrisburg on March 14th. The rally will occur in the Capitol Rotunda at 2:00. Lobby training will be held a block away from the Capitol building at 11:00 at St. Michael Lutheran Church,118 State St., Harrisburg. The coalition encourages people to visit legislators that day in Harrisburg from 12:00 to 1:45. Click on the links for talking points and tips on how to schedule a meeting with your legislator. The Center is trying to organize bus transportation to Harrisburg from Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The people of Pennsylvania don't play the hate game like those in so many other states!

Join me on March 14th in Harrisburg! Tell all your friends! Make it a great chance to show unity and then have lunch at a great restaurant downtown! Bring who ever you can! There is power in numbers, and legislators who are currently not very popular in PA for other reasons know it!

Because of the pay raise scandal, there are many heads on the chopping block this November, and they are going to be listening! They need to be afraid to touch this Marriage Protection Bullshit with a ten foot poll! The GOP members will be tempted to join this wedge issue, but not if we put the pressure on them! Then know the haters in PA are not in the majority, and if they want to keep their jobs they had better pander to the side that can give them the votes, and that is our side!

So write to them, call them, and show them with sheer numbers that we the people of Pennsylvania will not stand for the inclusion of exclusionary language in our state Constitution! Let them know that we know there is never a time when it is appropriate to put civil rights on a ballot for popular review. Tell them it is un-American and cowardly for any legislative body to allow the majority to vote and determine the rights of the minority.

Tell them everything, and tell them often! One letter, one call, one visit is NOT enough! Your duty is to fight for equality, and that demands vigilance until victory is declared!
